Less than 30 years ago, there were two global super powers. One was, and still is, the United States of America. The second was the Soviet Union. However, due to a corrupt and unmanageable government, a political coup ensued. American ally Boris Yeltsin came to power and reformed the government structure. Yeltsin oversaw the dismantling of the USSR into newly independent satellite states that were under Russian control even in the Tsarist times.
After the dismantling and collapse of the USSR, Russia faced serious inflation. Youth had no jobs, and education was privy. Free market and western unification injected their standards back into Russia, after nearly a hundred years abroad. Russia was written off the books.
But now. Russia is facing a new and growing era, while Western Europe is entering into deeper turmoil. The World Bank has officially up-ranked Russia to the spot of 5th strongest economy on the planet. This place was previously held by Germany.
The old Russia of the communist era was isolated, seeking it's identity as a people and not as a plaything of a Tsar. The Russia of the 1990s tried to become a Western European free market. But no. Now, Russia plays by her own rules. The Russian people are identifying with a new system of beliefs to strengthen themselves, rising to new prominence.
